What the F%*k Episode 2: Coffee Hacks

Coffee is one of the few things in life where you always order the same thing. After all, why risk spoiling your morning with a new Starbucks order when you already know your usual cup of joe is good as is?

To help you shake things up a bit, we’ve created some coffee hacks that will make your morning brew even better. As a bonus, a few of these hacks will save you some money in the long run. So take a leap of faith and give some of these coffee hacks a go.

Make Ice Cubes

Never throw away your leftover coffee again. Simply pour the cooled brew into an ice cube tray and use in your iced coffee later. This will prevent your iced coffee from being diluted while keeping it chilled.

Grind Your Own Beans

No fancy equipment is needed if you have a food processor. Simply toss in some coffee beans and grind away. Keep your coffee grounds coarse if they’re being used with a French press. You’ll want them a bit finer for drip coffee and ground extra fine for an espresso roast.

Make Small Batch Espresso in a French Press

If you’re dying to buy an espresso machine, try this hack instead. Put 1/4 cup finely ground espresso roast coffee in a French press and cover with 1/2 cup hot water (200ºF or so). Let your espresso steep for one minute, then pour into your cup of choice.

#SpoonTip: This is a great hack for making lattes and cappuccinos at home as well.

Make Bulletproof Coffee

Bulletproof coffee is supposed to give you even more energy than a regular cup of coffee. Just add a little coconut oil and butter to your morning cup of joe to create this concoction. While I’m not 100% sure if it’ll really make a difference in your energy levels, it’ll at least be a delicious way to start your morning.

Make it Less Bitter

Adding a pinch of salt will make your coffee less bitter, which means you (hopefully) won’t be tempted to pour in tons of cream and sugar.

Flavor Your Roast

Add some nutmeg or cinnamon to your drip coffee before brewing it, and enjoy your very own flavored roast. For an extra burst of flavor, sprinkle on some spices once it’s brewed as well.

Make No-Churn Coffee Ice Cream

It’s incredible what some condensed milk and heavy cream can create. Making no-churn coffee ice cream is ridiculously easy, but waiting for it to set in the freezer is tough.

Next time you go to make your regular, boring cup of coffee, try out one of these coffee hacks instead. Changing up your morning routine can make your entire day better, so why not give it a go?
