7 Places to Drink in Panama City That Will Take You to Heaven

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Syracuse chapter.

Panama’s nightlife is something you wouldn’t want to miss if you are visiting the country for a couple of days. The city is full of restaurants/bars and rooftops for you to enjoy a delicious drink with your friends and family. Listed below are 7 places you can’t leave Panama without visiting.

1. aMano

If you are looking for good music, a friendly environment, and authentic drinks, aMano is the perfect place to go. All of their drinks are hand-crafted and unique.

aMano is continually changing their menu based on the season; every season has a different menu with a variety of drinks made by them. My personal favorite that I recommend you try is the California Mule.

2. MoMa Restaurant and Lounge

If you are looking for a more relaxing place to have a drink, MoMa is the perfect place to go. They offer a variety of different beverages. If you are feeling Mexican, you can order their Margaritas. If you feel classy, you can enjoy their Cosmopolitan. If you want to go with the usual, they also offer vodka, gin, and rum drinks.

3. La Rana Dorada

If you are a beer lover, the Rana Dorada is a must for you. They offer their original hand-crafted beers, and they give you the opportunity to try a little bit of all of their choices if you have never been there before. If you don’t like strong beer, I would recommend the “Rana Blanche.”

Aside from their famous beers, La Rana is also known for their delicious pizza. Honestly, there is no better combination than eating a delicious pizza with a cold beer!

4. Tantalo

Located in Casco Viejo, one of the most toured places in Panama, Tantalo is the best place to go if you want to have your favorite drink while sitting on a rooftop enjoying a perfect view of the city.

Aside from being famous for their cocktails, Tantalo’s food menu is something you wouldn’t want to miss. You can have a nice meal on their lower floor and then go to the rooftop and order your favorite drink.

5. The Strangers Club

With only a few months running in Casco Viejo, The Strangers Club is the perfect place to go after a long day of touring the city. You can enjoy their variety of hand-crafted drinks, or if it happens to be a Sunday, you might want to look out for their brunch menu and enjoy a nice meal with mimosas.

6. Emma’s

Aside from having a delicious food menu, Emma’s is also a great place to have a drink with friends and family.

While you are visiting, I would recommend you follow them on social media to know what time is perfect to visit since they are constantly setting up brunch, events, and happy hours.

7. Sugar

Looking for a place to pregame? Sugar is the right place for you. Sugar is located on a small terrace on the 7th floor of a building in Costa Del Este, giving you a lovely view of the ocean.

Every day of the week they have a different theme. For example, Thursdays is ladies’ night with a Bubbles and Strawberries promo meaning that you get free champagne from 7 pm to 9 pm. What a great idea to pregame with free champagne before going out with your friends!

There are more places to visit in Panama that are not on this list, but if you don’t have time to do them all, this guide will help you to visit what I consider the best places to go.

I am a Panamanian attending Syracuse University majoring in Communication and Rhetorical Studies. When I'm not studying or writing articles, I'm usually hanging out with my friends or trying new restaurants.
