How To Make The Viral Chipotle Grilled Cheese Burrito

If you’re anything like me, you’ll agree that cheese belongs on everything edible. If there’s an option to add cheese, I’m adding it. At Chipotle, I’ll always ask for extra cheese. The only thing that could make my burrito better is wrapping it in cheese. Luckily, the grilled cheese burrito is a thing, thanks to some creative Chipotle lovers on TikTok.

What is a grilled cheese burrito?

It’s exactly what it sounds like. Essentially, it’s your typical Chipotle burrito, but the outside of the tortilla is sealed with a layer of melted shredded cheese. It sounds like heaven, doesn’t it?

The creator of the trend, @Yanotom on TikTok, was reposted on Chipotle’s socials and I have to agree with the chain, “Don’t talk to me unless you’ve tried this.”

How do you make a Chipotle grilled cheese burrito?

First, @Yanotom ordered a Chipotle bowl and a side tortilla to go. Once he constructs the burrito, he heats a pan and sprinkles shredded cheese onto the pan. The type of cheese is up to you!

You can even ask Chipotle for a side of their shredded cheese.

Then, he places the burrito onto the melting cheese, essentially sealing the burrito with a golden, crispy layer of cheesy deliciousness. He only does this to one side, but if you’re cheese-obsessed like me, feel free to do both sides.

And what better time to try the grilled cheese burrito trend than for Cinco de Mayo? To celebrate the holiday, Chipotle is offering free delivery from May 1 to May 5 on all orders placed on the Chipotle app and website. I know I’ll be trying it!
