Okay, Wendy’s, I see you. You got those flaky croissants sandwiches, those biscuits sandwiches, those classics like the Breakfast Baconator, and now you’re coming for the English muffin breakfast sandwich market. Move over Dunkin’s Beyond Sausage Sandwich, Burger King’s fully loaded Croissan’wich, Chick-fil-A’s Egg White Grill, and McDonald’s Egg McMuffin, because Wendy’s new breakfast sandwich has arrived.
Wendy’s has a new breakfast sandwich that looks kinda like the McMuffin.
This past week, in an obvious challenge to McDonald’s, Wendy’s announced that on August 22, it would release two new English muffin sandwiches. Based on the company release, the sandwiches will include “a fresh-cracked egg, your choice of oven-baked Apple Smoked bacon cooked daily (unlike the other guys…) or savory grilled sausage patty and finished off with melted American cheese.” Since McDonald’s pre-cooks and reheats their McMuffin bacon, it’s clear who Wendy’s means to shade with the “other guys” comment.
You can get a discount on Wendy’s new breakfast sandwich.
From August 22 to September 3, customers can receive $2 off any breakfast orders that include an English muffin sandwich (more money in my horrifying bank account…I think yes).
There’s more to Wendy’s new breakfast menu.
That said, the English muffin sandwiches are not the only star of the new breakfast menu. I for one am obsessed with the Frosty Cream cold brew, which I sampled during their 99 cents special earlier this August, and now wake up in the morning thirsting for. Imagine how glorious a Frost Cream cold brew would taste with a Wendy’s English egg muffin sandwich! I’m certainly intrigued by the fact that Wendy’s meat will be prepared and cooked on-site. Will Wendy’s Egg McMuffin do what no other fast food chain breakfast sandwich has done before? Come August 22, I’ll be first in line to find out.
