The official start date of summer is just around the corner, but things at Starbucks are already heating up. Well, actually, more like cooling off. Tomorrow, June 5, Starbucks is dropping six new summer menu items. The most noteworthy, however, is a brand spankin’ new drink called the Serious Strawberry Frappuccino.
The new drink, similar to the Ultra Caramel and Triple Mocha Frappuccinos, is an upgrade on a classic, the Strawberries and Crème Frappuccino. It starts with strawberry fruit puree at the bottom and layers the Strawberries and Crème base (ice, milk, and a strawberry infusion blend) on top, then adds another layer of strawberry puree and vanilla whipped cream. It’s a swirl explosion of red and white that when mixed together delivers the magenta-colored goodness you’ve come to expect from Starbs.
Again, like the Ultra Caramel and the Triple Mocha, the Serious Strawberry Frappuccino is now on the permanent menu in the US and Canada, meaning it will be available long after the summertime. You can get a grande size for around $4.95-$5.95 (depending on location).
In addition to the new pinkish drink, Starbucks is adding a Chicken Chorizo & Tortilla Sous Vide Egg Bites ($4.45 for two) and a Kitchen Sink Cookie ($2.45) to the permanent menu. For a limited time, they’ll also be serving up a Frosted Doughnut Cake Pop ($2.25), a Confetti Sugar Cookie (2.45), and a Summer Berry Swirl Croissant ($3.25). Each limited-edition baked good is available while supplies last.
So, set your morning alarm a little earlier tomorrow or plan out a little afternoon break. You’re going to want to leave yourself some time to get to your nearest Starbucks to try these new summer menu items stat, especially the beautiful new magenta Serious Strawberry Frappuccino.
