How to Eat Breakfast Like Meghan Markle

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Brown chapter.

The most tragic thing about Meghan Markle’s engagement to Prince Harry (besides the fact that Prince Harry is no longer single) is that the future princess had to deactivate her lifestyle blog, The Tig. Named after her favorite brand of wine Tignanello, Markle’s blog was a rich source of personal recipes, beauty tips, and travel guides. Although the blog is no longer active, not all hope is lost. Here are four of Meghan Markle’s favorite breakfast recipes, originally posted on her blog, that will help you channel your inner princess.

Vanilla Almond Chia Seed Bowl

According to Markle, “There’s just nothing like a chia seed bowl to get you feelin’ happy, healthy, and whole before you skip out the door.” The future princess praises chia seed bowls for their high levels of protein, fiber, and Omega3-s, promising they “will make you feel like a million bucks.” Her recipe for the perfect vanilla almond chia seed bowl serves two, so grab your Prince Harry and get ready to start the day off right.

Ingredients:

– 2 oz. coconut milk

– 10 oz. unsweetend almond milk

– 1/2 cup chia seeds

– 1 tbsp. vanilla

– 1 scoop of your favorite protein powder

– 1 pinch of salt

– 1 spoon of raw honey

– blueberries, blackberries, raspberries & sliced almonds

Directions:

1. Blend all ingredients (other than chia seeds, berries, and almonds) in a high-speed blender until thoroughly combined.

2. Combine mixture with chia seeds in a mixing bowl and stir until chia seeds are distributed evenly.

3. Pour chia seed mixture into two bowls. Cover bowls and refrigerate overnight.

4. Remove chia seed pudding bowls from refrigerator and garnish with berries and sliced almonds.

5. Serve and enjoy!

If you are wondering how Markle gets her energy fix, look no further. The former actress credits this green juice recipe for giving her lasting energy throughout long days of filming, explaining that “green juice is a food-as-medicine philosophy for [her].” It’s also the perfect solution for a quick breakfast that you can take on the go.

Ingredients:

– 2 cucumbers

– 8 celery stalks

– 4 green apples

– 16 leaves of kale with stalk

– 1 lemon

– 2 inch piece of ginger

Directions:

1. Core apples, de-stem kale leaves, and chop celery into smaller pieces.

2. Mix all ingredients into a juicer and blend for one to two minutes.

3. Pour into glasses and serve (Serves 2)

Although I’m not promising that these recipes will help you snag your future prince, they will help tide you over for the month remaining until the royal wedding. Also, what better way to start the day than eating breakfast the Meghan Markle way?
