The 11 Best Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Ranked

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at UGA chapter.

If you’ve never had a Krispy Kreme doughnut, you’re missing out on some precious dough. You haven’t lived until you’ve gotten a free glazed doughnut just because the “Hot Now” sign is on. If that sounds like something you’re into, Krispy Kreme offers a wide variety of fresh doughnuts for you to choose from every day. However, it can be overwhelming to pick the lucky few that get to go home with you. This list feels you, so here’s a ranking of the 11 best Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

11. All Seasonal Donuts

Could doughnuts get any cuter? Krispy Kreme always offers seasonal doughnuts for different holidays. I personally like their winter doughnuts because who doesn’t like to eat Frosty the Snowman? He won’t melt in the car, but he will melt in your mouth. These are some of the best Krispy Kreme doughnuts, in my opinion.

10. Chocolate Iced Custard Filled

Custard is a highly underrated filling. It may not look super appetizing, but it does wonders for balancing out the sweet doughnut. The Chocolate Iced Custard Filled doughnut is nice for when you want something sugary, but not too sweet.

9. Double Dark Chocolate

This doughnut is a chocolate explosion with chocolate filling, topping, and drizzle. I’ve heard that it’s healthy to eat chocolate, so this Double Dark Chocolate doughnut should do wonders for your body. I get you’re only supposed to eat a small amount of chocolate to get the health benefits, but with a doughnut like this, I don’t care.

8. Glazed Cruller

If you want a doughnut with a little less…well, dough, crullers are different because they’re light and airy. Add some of Krispy Kreme’s glaze and it’s like eating a sugar cloud. Not to mention their shape is pretty rad.

7. Glazed Chocolate Cake

Let them eat cake! Cake doughnuts, that is. Krispy Kreme’s Glazed Chocolate Cake doughnut is moist and crumbly, but it doesn’t fall apart. The glaze works as glue to keep everything together.

6. Reese’s Peanut Butter

How could Krispy Kreme’s doughnuts possibly get better? They already covered everything, right? Actually, they added a Reese’s peanut butter doughnut to make their doughnut game a million times stronger. The chocolate to peanut butter ratio is on point.

5. Glazed with Kreme Filling

If you like glazed doughnuts, but want to take it one step further, the Glazed with Kreme Filling doughnut will give you that extra thang you’re looking for. The soft filling meshes perfectly with the crunch of the glaze.

4. Chocolate Iced Glazed

First of all, I would like to thank Krispy Kreme’s Instagram team for uploading this picture, because it’s pure beauty. The chocolate is melted, the light reflection is amazing, and the doughnuts are perfectly round. No more reasons are needed to try this doughnut.

3. Oreo Cookies and Kreme

If you’re unsure of what doughnut to pick first from Krispy Kreme, the Oreo Cookies and Kreme is always a safe bet. The Oreo filling might be the best part because it’s smooth and crunchy at the same time.

2. Chocolate Iced Glazed with Sprinkles

Sprinkles make everything taste better, just like this chocolate iced doughnut. I swear Krispy Kreme uses the best sprinkles because the ones they have are smaller and crunchier than normal ones. Let’s all shimmy for the jimmies.

1. Original Glazed

All hail the OG, aka the Original Glazed doughnut. I would eat the Original Glazed doughnut for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if I didn’t care about my sugar levels. Don’t even get me started on when these rings first come out of the glazer all warm and fresh. This doughnut is more flawless than I am.

While I think these are the best Krispy Kreme doughnuts, it’s up to you to decide which ones to get. If you want to get a dozen of the best Krispy Kreme doughnuts, you could always use the 11 from this list and pick one more wildcard. There are no wrong decisions when it comes to doughnuts.
