How To Make 11 Of Kanye West’s Favourite Foods In Your Own Home

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Carleton chapter.

Kanye West may be a hip-hop legend but he still needs to eat. And with 8 albums under his belt, food is bound to come up once in a while. I scoured through Kanye’s lyrics looking his favourites and now I want to show you how to recreate them for yourself. So you’d better get The New Workout Plan queued up on Spotify. You’re going to need to burn off some calories after trying all of Yeezy’s favourite foods, because they are delicious

1. “Monkey bread on the side, know how the family do it,” – Family Business

Monkey bread is undoubtedly one of the best desserts. It’s chewy, it’s gooey, it’s covered in cinnamon and sugar. What more can you ask for?

To enjoy it in true rapper fashion, make this boozy apple monkey bread and eat it with all your friends. Trust me, they’ll thank you for it.

2. “In a French-ass restaurant; Hurry up with my damn croissants!” – I Am A God

Kanye is not the type of man that you want to keep waiting, especially when it comes to fancy breakfast pastries. Personally, I don’t like yelling at the waiter to get my food faster. I actually think it’s a bit rude. But, then again, I’m not Kanye West.

If you’re like Kanye and are tired of waiting on the slow service at the French-ass restaurant, try making this recipe for nutella and cinnamon sugar croissants at home. They’re fast, easy, flaky and delicious.

3. “Somebody ordered pancakes, I just sip the sizzurp,” – Through the Wire

Kanye recorded this song as his jaw was wired shut from a car accident that nearly killed him. So it isn’t that he doesn’t enjoy pancakes, it’s just that he couldn’t eat them at the time! Or maybe he’s talking about a different type of syrup entirely…

In honour of October, try out these pumpkin spice chocolate chip pancakes. I’m sure Kanye would love them too.

4. “What she order, fish fillet?” – N—– in Paris

This line is the most fun to yell out loud when you’re out dancing with your friends. It’s also one of the best things to order when you’re at McDonald’s. Kanye knows what’s up.

Obviously, the best fish fillet sandwiches are found at McDonald’s, but if you’re interested in making them yourself at home try this recipe here.

5. “You fixed me up something that was good for my soul; Famous homemade chicken soup, can I have another bowl?” – Hey Mama

Kanye dedicated this song to his mother, thanking her for the way she raised him. One of his fondest childhood memories was of her making him his favourite foods. I can just imagine the two of them enjoying a bowl of hot soup on a cold winter day.

To warm yourself up this year as the weather gets worse, try this recipe for crock pot chicken soup. Make it for youself in the morning and it’ll be ready when you get home after a long hard day.

6. “Eatin’ good: vegetarian with the brown rice,” – Don’t Like

A dish doesn’t have to have expensive meat in it to be part of the extravagant rapper lifestyle. There’s a place for veggies and eating healthy too. Rice may not be glamorous but it’s good for you. And that’s what matters.

To do good by your body and enjoy it in the process, make some curry rice and lentils for dinner tomorrow. It’s the best of both worlds: flavourful and fufilling.

7. “Tell her, ‘Girl, like Doritos, that’s nacho cheese,'” -Lollipop Remix

Kanye’s a very clever man. Was he the first to make this pun? Probably not. But he definately sounded the best while singing it.

For your next movie night snack with friends, whip up these fully loaded veggie nachos. The vegetables will make you feel better about yourself while you’re gouging on them after you realize how tasty they are.

8. “I hit the gym, all chest, no legs; Yup, then I make myself a smoothie,” – 30 Hours

I definately support Kanye’s choice of post-workout beverage. However, I need to stress how important leg day is if you’re going to go to the gym. If you just do chest exercises and ignore your legs, pretty soon you’re going to look like a triangle.

For your next refreshing post-workout snack, try this light mint watermelon smoothie. It may not help you with your gains but it is definately delicious.

9. “Soon as I got salad, I spent it all on dressin’; French, to be exact,” – Looking For Trouble

If you’re going to spend all your money on salad, then French dressing is one of the best ways to go (although Caesar dressing is definately superior).

If you want to try a wonderful chopped salad that’s great any time of the year, look here.

10. “Gave her the hot chocolate, she said, ‘It’s dee-ricious!'” – Christmas in Harlem

Kanye knows that there’s nothing more cozy that curling up with a mug of hot chocolate during the Christmas season. It’s even better if you have some female company to enjoy it with you. I still can’t figure out what the dee-ricious pun is supposed to mean though.

This holiday season, ditch the packaged mixes and make the hot chocolate yourself. All the best hot chocolates are boozy so I recommend swapping in some peppermint schnapps if you really want to kick back and relax.

11. “Fired a week later, the manager count the churros,” – Gone

While I feel bad that Kanye got fired, the mention of churros makes me too hungry to think about it for long. Who knew that a deep fried pastry with sugar could be so addicting? I just hope Kanye’s manager shares.

If you want to get fat on churros and creamy chocolate, look no further. I’ve got you covered.

Now the only thing you have to do is go home, get to your kitchen, turn on The College Dropout, and jam out to some Kanye tunes while you make all his favourite foods. And believe me, after you try these recipes, you’ll know why they’re his favourites.
