Preheat oven to 350°F and grease two 6-inch circle cake pans.
Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and one-fourth cup of sprinkles in a large bowl. Combine buttermilk, oil, and vanilla in a medium bowl.
Beat together granulated sugar, shortening, butter, and light brown sugar in another large bowl. Add eggs one at a time and mix. Add buttermilk mixture and mix. Add dry ingredients until well combined.
Pour batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle the remaining sprinkles. Bake until golden brown, about 30-35 minutes. Re-Preheat oven to 300°. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
For the crumbs, mix flour, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, sprinkles, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl. Add oil and vanilla and mix. Break the dough into large and small clusters and put on a baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
For the frosting, combine butter, shortening, and cream cheese. Slowly add corn syrup and vanilla. Mix until glossy. Add powdered sugar, salt, baking powder, and citric acid and mix.
Take the cooled cakes out of the pans. Layer with frosting and crumbs and place the other cake on top. Repeat the process and enjoy!
