Unless you’ve been living under the biggest rock in history, you’ve undoubtedly heard the news: Beyoncé is pregnant with twins. The world as a whole collectively lost their damn minds over Bey’s Instagram announcement, which is now the most liked picture on the social media site.
So now that Beyoncé is eating for three, us food bloggers have to wonder–what has Bey been noshing on to feed the two newest members of the hive?
Twins are a whole different ball game as compared to when Beyoncé was pregnant with Blue Ivy, so we can only expect double the trouble when it comes to food. Here’s our best guesses as to what Queen B will be eating until her due date:
Sweet Potatoes
Beyoncé is one of many celebrities who have tried veganism. And while many would think that this limits her options as to food, there are still plenty of delicious options available.
Beyoncé even has her own vegan meal delivery service up and running, which includes all sorts of vegan goodies. One of the more popular menu items is a sweet potato bowl.
This bowl (or sweet potatoes in general) would be perfect for Beyoncé as sweet potatoes include 3% of your daily folic acid intake and 8% of your daily iron–both nutrients that pregnant women need.
Ketchup
Beyoncé might have hot sauce in her bag, but what about a bottle of Heinz? In an interview with Closer magazine she gave while pregnant with Blue Ivy, Beyoncé expressed her love for the sauce.
“I don’t know if you’d call it weird, but I’m having ketchup with everything … I mean, I liked it before I was pregnant, but now I literally won’t eat anything without it.”
Many agree with Bey that ketchup is life, but this condiment is especially important for her right now because it has been shown to cut cholesterol. When carrying two of the most highly anticipated children of 2017, Bey can’t be taking risks with her heart.
In-N-Out Cheeseburgers
Beyoncé generally keeps her food options pretty healthy, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t also obsessed with In-N-Out (like pretty much everyone else on the West Coast).
But don’t try and think that Bey will now be going animal style on every order from here on out. According to Delish, her favorite thing off the In-N-Out menu is just a plain cheeseburger.
Maybe she’ll step up her order to a Double Double in the coming months though–pregnant women should aim for as much as 70 grams of protein a day in their diet.
Jalapeños
This same article from Delish also states that Beyoncé’s go to pizza order is a pie with extra sauce and…jalapeños? Husband Jay-Z is low-key judgmental of this order, but let a pregnant woman eat what she wants!
Beyoncé loves some spicy food, and jalapeños will definitely hit the spot as she continues through her pregnancy. But don’t worry, jalapeños are generally regarded as safe throughout pregnancy.
While you shouldn’t eat them in excess, jalapeños are fine for pregnant women. The most common side effect of eating these peppers during pregnancy is a little heartburn.
Fried Shrimp
One of Beyoncé’s favorite spots in her native Houston is BB’s Cajun Café. After a concert in her hometown, Bey ate at this restaurant, choosing fried shrimp and catfish, both Southern classics.
Many women crave fried food during pregnancy, and Beyoncé is no exception. However, many are often afraid that eating fish while pregnant will hurt the baby. But fear not–as far as seafood goes, shrimp is pretty benign for expecting mothers.
Shrimp has one of the lowest levels of mercury in all seafoods and, when it’s fried, it’s certainly cooked through enough for anyone to eat. So, while we don’t advise trying to cook it in your dorm room, fried fish from a restaurant is certainly good enough for Queen Bey.
Beyoncé being pregnant pretty much means that 2017 has peaked. But, at least while we’re waiting for the two youngest Carters to arrive, we can hope for plenty of Instagram pics of her cravings.
Think she’ll have some lemonade to wash it all down?
