These 3-Ingredient Chocolate Bites Are Perfect for Your Vegan Valentine

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at UFL chapter.

“Homemade chocolates? Those must be so complicated to make!” Think again. These chocolates are just about the easiest little things to make. And trust me, people will be very impressed by your mad chocolatier “skills,” when in reality, all you have to do is mix three ingredients in a bowl — but I’ll take all the credit I can get.

I started making these chocolates when I went vegan just to have in the house because almost every chocolate brand out there has some form of milk or milk fat in their dark chocolate (except Trader Joe’s 72% chocolate bars… you go T.J.’s).

My family always has these three common ingredients in the house so when you need a Valentine’s gift for your love bird or just want to brighten someone’s day with the gift of chocolates, these chocolates are one of the cheapest and tastiest options out there.

Instructions

  1. Sadie Vitkus

Gather all ingredients. Make sure the coconut oil is melted and that your maple syrup is room temperature (if t’s not room temperature, the coconut oil will harden due to its sensitivity to temperature change).

  2. Sadie Vitkus

Pour all ingredients into a bowl and mix together. This step will take a good minute or so, but stir until there aren’t any lumps of cocoa left.

  3. Sadie Vitkus

Spoon the chocolatey goodness into molds of your choice. I definitely recommend using silicon. You can even pour the mix onto a parchment lined baking sheet and freeze it for chocolate bark.

  4. Sadie Vitkus

Freeze for 2 hours, or until solid. Wrap ’em up or eat ’em all in one sitting, up to you. I put mine in a gift box.

These melt-in-your-mouth chocolate bites are perfect for any Valentine’s occasion. Bring them to a party the share or spread the chocolate love to with your family. I urge you to give this recipe a go, you won’t be disappointed.
