10 Discontinued Childhood Snacks We’re Still Mourning the Loss Of

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Emory chapter.

Remember the days when we could enjoy the foods we’re now mourning the loss of? The separation anxiety is real from these discontinued foods. Some of the foods that made our childhood are no longer with us. But while these foods may be gone from supermarket shelves, let’s not let them become forgotten. These are the foods that we need back in our lives.

1. 3-D Doritos

There’s something so great about things in 3-D, and Doritos were no exception. These were sadly discontinued in 2006. Since then, we’ve had to settle for normal Doritos.

2. Oreo O’s cereal

From 1998 until 2007, we could get away with eating Oreos for breakfast. This cereal had Oreos in the shape of O’s and creme-flavored marshmallows.

3. Dannon Sprinkl’ins Yogurt

Everyone knows that the coolest kids in elementary school were the ones with this yogurt in their lunch boxes. This yogurt was eventually taken off the shelves and can no longer be found in stores worldwide.

4. Fruit-shaped Trix Cereal

What villain changed the shape of Trix Cereal in 2007? We may not know, but we do know that this cereal will simply never be the same.

5. Rice Krispies Treats Cereal

Although this cereal was never officially discontinued, it hasn’t been seen in stores since 2011. Since then, we’ve had to accept the regular Rice Krispies cereal, which is not nearly as good.

6. Planters Cheez Balls

These were at every cool kid’s birthday party. Despite petitions to keep these in supermarkets, they were sadly discontinued in 2006.

7. Dunkaroos

Why must all good things come to an end? These packages of cookies and icing were childhood. Sadly, the last Dunkaroos were sold in 2012.

8. Nestlé Wonder Ball

I find it sad that kids growing up now will never get to try a Nestlé Wonder Ball. They were discontinued in 2004, but people are still in mourning over the discontinuation of this childhood candy.

9. Reese’s Bites

Think very deeply and ask yourself: are Reese’s Pieces and Reese’s cups really enough? The answer is no, and until 2008 the world was blessed with these chocolate and peanut butter bites. For the past nine years, we’ve had to suffer without them.

10. Crispy M&M’s

Foods may come and foods may go, but people never seemed to get over Crispy M&M’s being discontinued. Thankfully, they came back to stores in 2014. The world is now a better place.
