When I think about winter, I think about the first snow fall, twinkle lights on trees, winter jackets, hats, scarves, and most importantly I think about cookies. Baking cookies, eating cookies— for me, cookies define the winter season.
When the weather starts to get cold, my father and I head to the kitchen and make these shortbread cookies together. Although shortbread is a classic Scottish dessert dating back to medieval times, its flavor continues to bring joy to people today.
Although an excellent choice when cozying up by a fire on a cold winter’s day, shortbread cookies shouldn’t just be eaten in the winter. Serve these cookies to both your friends and family, and you’re guaranteed to make some people drool. I mean, who doesn’t want a buttery and delicious dessert to get you through the winter?
