Like almost every other college kid on the planet, I’ve become addicted to snacking round the clock. Food is fuel, and we need all the fuel we can get. Unfortunately, some of the strongest of those snacking urges hits me later at night, when it’s around 12 am and the last meal I had was about five hours ago. Before you start reaching for that bag of chips or carbohydrate-dense granola bar, consider opting for a healthier alternative (i.e. this amazing 3-ingredient avocado pudding recipe).
Snacking late at night is typically discouraged for good reason. Due to the fact that your body’s metabolism slows down at night, your body is more likely to store those calories as fat rather than burn it as energy. Okay, we get it, excessive snacking at night can lead to weight gain, but how is someone supposed to get any work done while they’re starving?
Don’t fret. There are many snack options out there that are both healthy and satisfying. This simple avocado pudding is perfect for both night and day snacking, especially if you have a sweet tooth like me.
