By now everyone has heard of BoruBoru, the brand new sushi burrito place in Emory Point that basically took over the whole campus for most of November. And, yeah, it’s pretty great. Some would say even really great. But with all the commotion I think we’ve forgotten some wonderful restaurants in Point that deserve as much love and affection as BoruBoru.
And so, now that Thanksgiving is right around the corner, let’s give thanks for some of the under-appreciated dining options right up the road.
1. Marlow’s Tavern
This is a very much under-appreciated find in Point. Not only is the food great, but it’s super cheap and the outdoor seating is comfortable and cozy. This is a great place to go with a big group of friends when you want to decompress after a long week.
Personal Recommendation: The black bean veggie burger, but remember to ask for truffle parmesan fries on the side.
2. Chow MeiMei
The thai food at this place is unreal. This place is also perfect when you’re on a budget, especially if you love Asian cuisine but high end sushi is hurting your wallet. The perfect casual eatery if you just want to get off of campus for a meal.
Personal Recommendation: Shrimp Pad Thai
3. General Muir
General Muir is in no way unsung, but obviously it’s still worth mentioning. Brunch or lunch, this restaurant is too good to leave out. And, as a girl from the Northeast, the bagels at GM alone earn it a spot on any Atlanta bucket list, not just for Emory students.
Personal Recommendation: For brunch? Avenue D. For Lunch? Roasted Turkey Sandwich
4. BurgerFi
This chain restaurant is a highlight in Point, especially because it’s a unique addition to the culinary landscape. The burgers are all organic and you can modify any burger to be gluten free or vegetarian. Plus, the milkshakes are out of this world.
Personal Recommendation: Parmesan Herb Fries and Coffee Mocha Milkshake
5. EarthFare
I bet you didn’t know EarthFare even had food! This tiny café inside the supermarket serves organic prepared foods that are perfect for lunch on the go. And it’s great for one stop shopping: you can grab a quick lunch and do your weekly grocery shopping in one place.
Personal Recommendation: The food changes almost everyday, but you really can’t go wrong.
Hopefully this encourages everyone to reach beyond BoruBoru (even though it’s great) and discover the other, wonderful restaurants that are so close to campus. Because, really, DUC food just isn’t going to cut it.
