As a young girl, I was outraged about having to go to school on Halloween. However, as I’ve gotten older I’ve come to realize that it is the day after Halloween that I would prefer to have off. Although Halloween has come and gone, college has not. Yes, your attendance is still expected in your 8 am no matter how many candy-inspired drinks you downed the night before.
After reflecting on some of the sweets I devoured post trick-or-treating as a kid, I have compiled a list of candies that perfectly reflect common college experiences that every student will inevitably have.
1. Sleeping Through Class: Candy Corn
The sound of your alarm going off in the morning is undeniably the most excruciating noise you have ever heard. You hit snooze, thinking it doesn’t really matter if you skip class just this one time. At the end of the semester, you realize “one time” was actually six.
It’s the same deal with candy corn, the Halloween candy people love to hate. A handful is nice, but the pounding headache that is guaranteed to ensue after too much sugar makes you regret it every time. If you’re anything like me though, you’ll still do it again the next day.
2. Doing Poorly On An Assignment You Thought You Did Well On: Airheads
Nothing feels better than turning in an assignment with confidence, and nothing feels worse than getting that assignment back to see that you completely missed the point.

Every now and then you swear all your professors meet up and decide to bombard you with huge assignments all due on the same day. I promise you, they don’t. Although it feels like the universe is plotting against you, remember to Take 5 for some rest and relaxation.
