Tyrion Lannister Shortbread Cookies

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Northwestern chapter.

There are a lot of different shortbread flavors: ginger cranberry, pretzel, chocolate chip, earl grey, and more. But for this recipe, we are using a simple combination of ingredients. While Tyrion is certainly a complex character with complex ideas and plans, but he is also a simple man who enjoys the simple pleasures of wine and women. Therefore, we will use a simple recipe. But the Lannisters are unpredictable, so feel free to throw in a few chocolate chips or a dash of cinnamon if you’re feeling risky.

Grab a friend and a glass (or four) of wine to help you decorate these cookies as well as eat them; it’s what Tyrion would want.

Allow cookies to cool before decorating. Make icing by mixing powdered sugar, water or milk, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Add food dye to get desired color for Tyrion’s outfit (I don’t think Tyrion would have been able to find such bright colors in King’s Landing or Casterly Rock, but this is your kitchen so be creative).

Mix yellow food dye with white frosting in a pastry bag and begin constructing Tyrion’s face and clothing. This may be time consuming, but don’t do a disservice to Tyrion and his features: Don’t forget the scar!
