No matter where I am or what I'm doing, I can always rely on the superfood of chia seeds to keep my energy up and my stomach feeling full. Living on my own for the first time, I am slowly getting used to trying new things. Chia seeds were not something new, but I learned how to incorporate them into many meals I that make at school.
Chia seeds are so powerful and so beneficial to our bodies, so no one should forget about these little superfoods. Actually, you can add chia seeds into your daily diet in more ways than you think.
What Are Chia Seeds?
Chia seeds are a superfood that originated from Mexico. Chia seeds are known to expand in your body once eaten, which in turn, keeps you very full. This low calorie, high nutrient superfood should be added to your grocery list.
You're probably still wondering how this is even possible from such a little seed.
When the chia seeds enter your stomach they immediately absorb water which causes the expansion of the seed and that feeling of fullness. On the bright side, you won't feel bloated because chia seeds have dietary fiber and promote regular bowel movements.
There are many things you can make and add chia seeds to. Some of these include smoothies, acaí bowls, yogurt, drinks and my favorite, pudding.
Ever think about what is in your shake? Most likely, chia seeds are being added to create a thicker consistency and to help sustain your energy. The best part about them is you won't even realize the chia seeds are there if the smoothie is blended enough. You will be getting all the superpowers without even trying.
Whether the chia seeds are blended or nicely arranged on top, I guarantee they're included somewhere in every acaí bowl that you try. I prefer them blended in, but for the picture, always get them on top.
Trying to eat healthy, but don't really know how? No worries because adding chia seeds and berries to your morning yogurt is a great way to start.
This may seem a little crazy, but it's true! All over local supermarkets you can find chia seed drinks that definitely have an acquired taste. If you like a thick drink with texture, I highly recommend Mamma Chia.
