I am not a crazy fan of direct recipes, especially when it comes to drinks. Rumour has it that as long as you know the parts to a drink you can add more or less of each liquid depending on your preferences. Personally, I am not the #1 supporter of exact recipes, maybe because I always mess them up or maybe because they give me anxiety and always ends in tantrums. We will never know.

So if you are a perfectionist please forgive me, these rum drink recipes can be altered and rumbled around (puns are too easy #cantstop).

1. Bermudian Swizzle

  • Total Time:5 mins
  • Servings:8
  • Easy

    Ingredients

  • 4 oz Goslings Black Rum
  • 4 oz Goslings Gold Rum
  • 5 oz pineapple juice
  • 5 oz orange juice
  • 1 oz Grenadine
water
Erin Haydon
  • Step 1

    Combine ingredients and enjoy.

#SpoonTip: You can use 8 oz of a single type of rum if preferred.

This Bermudian Swizzle is an incredibly popular drink with tourists the will take you directly out of your crummy mood (already sick of the rum puns?). On a personal note, when I make this drink I never go by the rule book. I definitely suggest adding more or less of every ingredient until you find your happy medium, definitely a drink that can be altered.

2. Cockspur and Gingerale

  • Prep Time:5 mins
  • Cook Time:0
  • Total Time:5 mins
  • Servings:1
  • Easy

    Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cockspur Rum OR 1/4 Cockspur Rum
  • Ginger ale
ice, beer, alcohol
Erin Haydon
  • Step 1

Fill a glass with your preferred amount of rum and top off with ginger ale.

This drink is incredibly popular among Bermudians, because it's not too sweet and sugary and is sworn to make hangovers a little easier. Then again, that's depending on how much you drink. It follows the K.I.S.S rule, Keep it Simple Sweetie (I find the "stupid" version lacks decorum—I'm sorry, I had to).

3. Yellow Bird

  • Total Time:10 mins

  • 6 oz Pineapple Juice
  • 2 oz Galiano Liquor
  • Lime Juice to your preferences
ice, juice, cocktail
Erin Haydon
  • Step 1

    Mix ingredients and enjoy.

Maybe it's a tourist thing, but these Yellow Birds are a big hit at the Mid Ocean Club in Bermuda. Super sweet and super fruity, this drink will give you a whole new spectrum of appreciation for rum drinks (okay maybe that pun was a stretch).

If you want something slightly sweet and aren't in the mood for vodka, definitely go with this drink. This classic island rum favorite is undoubtedly going to hit all your senses and become your go-to.

5. Dark & Stormy
