Drink This Double Chocolate Malted Milkshake While Watching Riverdale

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

Archie Comics were my go-to read as a kid going to overnight camp. I remember everyone getting packages sent in the mail with a comic book inside, then my friends and I trading them in order to read as many as we could. I loved Archie Comics so much that for my eighth grade fashion show, I made a dress fully out of Archie Comic pages modeled after original Archie comic cartoonist Bob Montana’s work. So ever since Riverdale first premiered on The CW and Netflix, I have been a little more then obsessed.

Each week, my roommates and I gather in the living room to watch it together and gush over the actors, the fashion, and the suspenseful narrative, while wishing we could move to Riverdale.

That’s when I came up with the idea to bring a taste from Riverdale to our weekly screenings. Inspired by the iconic Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe, I served a Double Chocolate Malted Milkshake during our weekly viewing party of Riverdale.

Place the ice cream, malted milk powder, and milk into a blender. Seal tightly with lid and begin to blend ingredients together. Once desired consistency is reached, pour all substance into a drinking glass. Garnish with whipped cream, and maraschino cherry.

Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe inspired Double Chocolate Malted Milkshake was definitely chock’LIT! Drinking this milkshake truly enhanced my viewing experience and made me feel as though I could have been sitting at a booth at Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe with Archie and his gang.
