This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Wash U chapter.

There’s really only one reason why you and your besties are going to the local farm this fall: cinnamon-sugar apple chips. (However, if you need some more convincing, check out the other five reasons Midwesterners love apple picking here.)

This apple chip recipe will transform your cravings for greasy potato chips to something sweeter and healthier, but with the same satisfying crunch.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°F.
  2. Cut apples horizontally into thin slices. If the apple slices are too thick, they will not turn as crisp in the oven. Arrange apple slices on a metal baking sheet. Mix sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle half of mixture over apple slices.
  3. Bake apples in oven for 1 hour. Flip apple slices and sprinkle remaining cinnamon sugar mixture over slices. Bake apples for 1 more hour or until desired crispiness.
