Take Your DIY Dining Hall Waffle Sandwich to the Next Level

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Wake Forest chapter.

Waffles with syrup are a classic breakfast option, but I think it’s time we move on from settling for just any old topping. Isn’t there more out there for a waffle than a life of endless sugary tree sap?

I set out on a mission to find out in Wake Forest’s very own dining hall, and thus the peanut butter and banana waffle panini was born. A much-needed spin on a childhood favorite, the marriage between waffles and paninis is nothing less than a college miracle.

Easy

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes

Servings: 1

Ingredients:
1 cup waffle batter

Directions:

1. Using your dining hall’s waffle maker, fill up a cup with waffle batter. Pour into waffle maker and let waffle cook until it’s done.

2. While the waffle is cooking, gather a banana and 2 packets of peanut butter and cut the banana into thin slices.

5. Fold in half and panini press your waffle sandwich to get the peanut butter deliciously melted and to make your sandwich a little less “bready.”
