Coffee-Inspired Desserts Guaranteed Make Your Heart Sing!

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at UVM chapter.

Coffee is perhaps one of my favorite substances in the entire world (next to bananas, peanut butter, and bagels of course). I drink at least two cups every day and can almost always go for a mid-afternoon espresso to power me through the rest of the day. Here are some coffee-inspired dessert ideas for you to try! And while you’re at it, take this fun SpoonU quiz to find our what kind of coffee you are

2-Layer Chocolate Espresso Cake

This recipe is for a chocolate cake with espresso buttercream and chocolate ganache. The espresso flavor comes from instant coffee granules- which you can find in almost any grocery store.

Mocha Brownie Ice Cream Cake

For when you can’t decide if you want a brownie or a cake! This recipe uses cream cheese, heavy whipping cream, and a ton of butter- so my dairy-free friends and I may opt out.

Espresso Chocolate Chip Cookies

I imagine these would be a good recipe for any book club or adult gathering! Upgrade your chocolate chip cookies to a new caffeinated level.

Coffee Toffee Trifle

Trifles are perfect for summer nights and big parties. You can make them in bulk and assemble them as needed!

Vegan & Gluten-Free Coffee Vanilla Tarts

This recipe uses raw cashews, dates, and silken tofu to make the creamy filling and its soft shell.

Coffee Cheesecake

Not only is the end result beautiful, but it will also satisfy your sweet tooth!

Molten Chocolate Mocha Lava Cake

The most satisfying feeling in the world may just be watching a spoon slice through the center of a lava cake. Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream to make this cake even more special.

Mocha Cupcakes with Espresso Buttercream Frosting

If you can’t commit to a whole cake, try this cupcake recipe instead!
