Easy Pita Pizza for When They’re Isn’t Anything in Your Fridge

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at UTulsa chapter.

I struggle to find things to make for dinner with what I have on hand when I haven’t been to the grocery store or laid anything out for dinner. I have started to keep pita stocked, marinara in my pantry, and cheese in the fridge for nights. This pita pizza recipe is the perfect lazy meal.

Prep Time: Nonexistent

Cook Time: 10-15 Minutes

Recipe:

1 pita bread (or flatbread if you prefer) – My favorite is Joseph’s Flax and Oat Pita

¼ cup pizza sauce or marinara – I recommend Aldi’s marinara from a jar (#bomb)

6 slices of Canadian bacon

¼ cup mozzarella cheese (or more. Go for it)

2 slices bacon cooked

¼ cup mushrooms, OPTIONAL

1 Tbsp olives, optional

1 tsp dried oregano flakes

1 tsp red pepper flakes, optional

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees (F). These can also be microwaved if you’re living in a dorm.

2. Place pita bread on pizza pan or cookie sheet.

3. Brush pita with pizza sauce

4. Place Canadian bacon and cooked bacon on pita

5. Top evenly with cheese

6. Place preferred veggies on top of cheese (or skip this step if you hate vegetables like me)

7. Sprinkle with oregano and pepper flakes

8. Bake for 10-15 minutes, until cheese melts and the pita bread becomes crispy
