4 Prepared Foods You Need to Try from Fresh Market

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at UGA chapter.

Located right off Alps, if you’ve never been to Fresh Market, I’m about to give you four great reasons to go. Their prepared foods section could rival that of Whole Foods any day of the week. Whether you need a packed lunch or a quick dinner, these items will satisfy all the cravings.

1. Vegetable Sushi Roll

At just six bucks, this vegetable sushi roll comes in strong on all levels. It’s crunchy (thanks to the carrots) and creamy (thanks to the avocado), and even healthy (thanks to the brown rice).

It does not neglect classic wasabi + ginger + soy sauce condiments to give you the full experience. Of course, this isn’t the only sushi option at Fresh Market. If you’re feeling adventurous, go for the spicy shrimp roll.

2. Chicken Salad Snack Pack

This one is my personal favorites. Its oh-so-packable and feels like the adult version of a Lunchable. For $6, you get a meal featuring four of the five food groups. Not too shabby. The chicken salad is smooth but not too heavy, and the cheese is marbled.

What more could you ask for? If you’re in more of a fishy mood or prefer green grapes to red, Fresh Market offers other options.

3. Vegetable Spring Rolls

Also a $6 meal, these spring rolls are easier than ordering takeout. Just pop them in the oven with some foil and cooking spray, and let them get hot ‘n’ crispy.

Full disclaimer: I’m not sure exactly what’s in the sweet and sour sauce, but I do know that it tastes like pure joy. It’s tangy and sweet with notes of citrus and pairs beautifully with the crunchy texture of the spring roll.

If you’re upping your protein game, grab the chicken or pork rolls instead of vegetable (or just grab them all).

4. Chicken Pesto & Goat Cheese Wrap

The amount of food you get in this wrap for $8 is impressive. It’s massive and guaranteed to fill you up. Not only do the red peppers add color and flavor, but they also add a nice crunch, contrasting nicely with the texture of the ample goat cheese spread throughout.

It’s a perfect on-the-go lunch since it provides a mess-free eating experience. If you want to get fancy, try heating it in a skillet and drizzle balsamic reduction on that ish.

Other options at Fresh Market include quiche (slice or whole), empanadas, pot stickers, sandwiches, enchiladas, lasagna, soup or even Panera-style mac and cheese. Moral of the story: go to Fresh Market.

Lexi is studying journalism and music business at the University of Georgia and will graduate in 2018. Her love language is food (especially cereal), and she’s not afraid to make a mess or two in the kitchen. Tortilla chips, sweet potato fries, pumpkin bread, and pretty much any other carb (she doesn’t discriminate) make her foodie world go round. Consuming raw fish and meat gives her anxiety.
