An Easy & Fun Valentine’s Day Treat

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at UFL chapter.

Valentine’s Day is a time of love…and sugar. After pondering and researching the countless possibilities of tasty desserts to make, I stumbled upon a fun idea that inspired this super easy treat for you and your valentine to whip up. This heart-shaped tart won’t break the bank but will make the perfect Instagram post.

Valentines Day Strawberries & Cream Tart

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Start by prepping your ingredients and preheating your oven to 350° F. Mix the cream cheese, vanilla, salt, and confectioners sugar into a bowl until combined. Slice your fresh strawberries and beat your egg.

  2. Thandie Brown

Next, cover a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil to prevent sticking. Lay down your pie dough or puff pastry and use a knife to cut the dough into a heart shape (don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be perfect to be delicious).

  3. Thandie Brown

Spread out your cream cheese mixture over the dough, leaving about one inch or so on the side. There should be an even layer of the mixture.

  4. Thandie Brown

Layer your strawberries over the cream cheese in whichever way you think looks best.

  5. Thandie Brown

Next, fold your outer inch of dough over itself to create a crust for your tart. Brush the beaten egg over the crust so that it will come out looking golden and crispy.

  6. Thandie Brown

Pop the tart into the oven for 10 minutes, turning whenever you see fit to make sure that all of the edges turn golden brown. Once you take it out, sprinkle on some confectioners sugar while it’s still hot and enjoy.

And there you have it, the easiest Valentine’s Day dessert for you and your valentine. The sweetness of the strawberries, the creaminess of the cream cheese, and the flakiness of that beautiful golden-brown dough combined make this the perfect Valentine’s Day Treat. Once you post this, be ready for all your friends to be asking for the recipe.
