I’ve Lived in 6 Countries, Here’s the Best Food I Ate in Each Place

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at UBC chapter.

Believe or not, throughout my short life I have lived in six different countries and have travelled to many more. I’ve tasted a lot of breakfast, lunch, and dinner from a ton of authentic cuisines around the world. I made a list of what I noticed to be some the best food from around the world while I was living in these six countries.

United States of America: Scrambled Eggs

Ah, the country of burgers, fries, chips, and Trump. New York was the first place to introduce me to the concept of cereal and scrambled eggs. I’ve found that Americans seem to be more healthy than foreigners think.

Kuwait: Machboos Laham

Yes, Kuwait is a country in the Middle East. The country is beautiful, rich in oil, also with one of the best lamb dish in the world.

Thailand: Tom Yum

My life in Thailand can be defined as a food-fest. I found a place called Tom Yum that serves the best soups in the world (according to my taste buds). Rich in its flavor, not only does the soup bring your appetite back, but it also has different variations.

Singapore: Chili Crab

Singapore is a country where a variety of cuisines coexist. But trust me when I say, if you haven’t tried the Singaporean Chili Crab, you haven’t eaten a crab yet.

Canada: Poutine

Canada is probably the most multi-cultural country that I have ever visited. Like Singapore, there are so many wonderful options for a curious food lover. But I must say, Canada’s Poutine is the best variation of potatoes in the world
