Outdoor Dining in Ann Arbor: Winter Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at U Mich chapter.

COVID-19 has made frequenting restaurants difficult. And, because indoor dining is currently closed in the state of Michigan, outdoor dining seems to be the only option at the moment despite frigid temperatures. Keep reading to find out about the best outdoor dining set-ups Ann Arbor has to offer, keeping you safe AND warm!

The Chop House Ann Arbor

Chop House has introduced heated outdoor dining igloos to keep customers comfortable while eating outside! Their individual igloos can seat up to six guests and are perfect for groups who are looking for a fine-dining experience despite current indoor dining restrictions.

Chapala Mexican Restaurant and Bar

Chapala is an Ann Arbor hotspot serving Mexican fare. They have quickly become a local favorite, becoming well-known for their jumbo margaritas which come in a variety of flavors. They’re keeping the party going with these individual greenhouse-style tents to keep you toasty while you get tipsy!

TAQ: Taqueria Restaurant and Bar

Another Mexican-inspired restaurant, TAQ does not disappoint when it comes to serving up creative and delicious tacos! One of the first Ann Arbor restaurants to implement the greenhouse-style structure for outdoor dining, they refer to theirs as “The Casitas” (Spanish for little houses)– how cute?!

Bigalora Pizza

The Ann Arbor location of Bigalora has set up plenty of heated igloos to accommodate diners, allowing customers to enjoy their wood-fired pizzas on-sight! These igloos can be reserved up to two weeks in advance, so book them sooner rather than later to guarantee a spot.

Despite the chilly temperatures, Ann Arbor restaurants have pulled out all the stops to ensure that diners can continue to enjoy their food in a safe and comfortable atmosphere. So, check out these spots if you’re looking for a delicious meal, minus the hypothermia!

I'm from NYC, my favorite food is sushi, and I am interested in both the writing and marketing side of things!
