Make the Most of Your Nearly-Empty Nut Butter Jars With These Easy Parfaits

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at U Mich chapter.

Nothing is quite as devastating as getting to the bottom of a nut butter jar. If you go through peanut butter as fast as I do, it’s a weekly occurrence. I used to dread finishing a jar of peanut butter, but ever since I started making nearly-empty nut butter jar parfaits, it’s something I actively look forward to.

Nutritious, filling, and easy to make, these parfaits are a great on-the-go breakfast or snack. I was inspired to create them after trying overnight oats in a nearly-empty nut butter jar. Why are they so good, you may ask? You get a taste of the nut butter remaining at the bottom and on the sides of the jar in every bite!

You can make these nut butter jar parfaits with any combination of yogurt, fruit, and other ingredients you have on hand, but below are three varieties that will surely inspire you. These recipes are based on 16oz nut butter jars, so feel free to adjust the ingredient amounts if your jar is a different size.

FIRST: My go-to parfait is this chunky monkey peanut butter jar parfait, as I always seem to have a peanut butter jar on hand. Plus, it requires just a few ingredients and almost no preparation… all you have to do is slice the banana!

  3. Eat immediately or screw the lid of the jar back on and store in the refrigerator if you want to eat it later in the day.

SECOND: If you have a peanut allergy or aren’t feeling a PB parfait, no need to worry; this chocolate orange almond butter jar parfait has your back! The easy-to-make chocolate yogurt makes this parfait ultra-decadent, while the oranges and raspberries add an irresistible tang.

THIRD: This last parfait will undoubtedly bring a ray of sunshine onto your day. Banana, mango, and coconut come together in a tropical dream, all wrapped up in a jar of creamy cashew butter. If you want to really create a blissful treat, take a few minutes to toast the coconut on the stovetop before assembling the rest of the parfait. Your kitchen will smell incredible!
