Spice Up Any Party With These PSL Jell-O Shots

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at U Chicago chapter.

PSLs bring out bizarrely strong emotions in people. For some, this emotion is hatred. For others, it is deep adoration. But guzzle them or scorn them, there is little debate that PSLs have become the mascot of fall, their release signaling the imminent arrival of sweater weather, apple-picking, and seasonal, food-filled, holidays.

So for all of you who could never (soberly) admit you need some pumpkin spice to get you in the fall mood, some basic girls have created a solution for you: PSL Jell-O Shots. These are deceptively potent, so after a few, you won’t care what they taste like; you’ll be singing odes to fall and drunk-eating apple pie.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Liz Joyce

Pour the cold vanilla or caramel coffee into a medium-sized sauce pan. Sprinkle two packets of Knox gelatin on top and let sit for two minutes without stirring.

#SpoonTip: Make sure you use a big saucepan because this will rise and you’ll be adding more liquid in later.

  2. Liz Joyce

Whisk on medium-high heat until everything dissolves.

  3. Liz Joyce

Add sweetened condensed milk and pumpkin pie spice while whisking. Bring to low boil.

  4. Liz Joyce

Once a low boil is reached, take off heat and add vodka, whisking to mix.

  5. Liz Joyce

Pour the mixture into shot glasses and add straws.

#SpoonTip: The picture is using Jell-O shot cups, but if you use actual plastic shot glasses, they look way cuter and more authentic.

  6. Liz Joyce

    Refrigerate for 6 hours.

#SpoonTip: If rushed, put in the freezer for about an hour.

  7. Liz Joyce

Once firm, top with Cool Whip and pumpkin pie spice.

Enjoy!
