Make These Nutella Egg Rolls for Dessert Tonight

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Temple chapter.

This may be the best thing I’ve ever made. Something magical happens when you fry up these fruit-filled egg rolls – the marshmallows and Nutella melt, and the fruit gets super sweet.

It seems like a daunting recipe, but really the only challenge is peeling apart the raw egg roll wrappers, which are kinda fragile. Leave them out to warm up for a few minutes, lift from a corner, and peel apart slowly – that way, you won’t accidentally rip them to shreds.

Be sure to let these cool completely before you eat them – the insides will be like lava for a while, even after the outsides are cool enough to touch.

Sprinkle some flour on a flat working surface. Place one egg roll wrapper on the table, with one corner pointing towards you.

Add 1-2 spoonfuls of Nutella to the center of the wrapper. Put a few slices of fruit on top, and 2-3 mini marshmallows.

#Spoontip: Use your favorite fruits in any combination to customize these egg rolls.

Roll it up: dip your finger in clean water and wet the outside edges of the wrapper. Fold up the corner nearest you to cover the fillings.

Fold in the sides, using more water to create a snug, sealed pocket. Roll up the rest of the way, and use a little more water to seal down the last corner.

Using tongs, carefully place egg rolls seam-side down in the oil. Fry until golden brown, 1-2 minutes. Place egg rolls on a plate covered with paper towels, to drain excess oil.

Optional: Drizzle some chocolate sauce or extra Nutella, melted in the microwave for about 8 seconds, on top. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

    (Is it really optional?)

    Enjoy!

#Spoontip: Do NOT dump your cooking oil down the drain. After it has cooled completely, pour it back into the bottle and recycle it or throw it out.
