Sometimes store bought dressings can be deceiving; although they pair well with your nutricious salad, they often contain an overwhelming amount of sodium and other unnecessary ingredients that should be avoided. However, thanks to my mom, I have acquired several easy and healthy homemade salad dressings that are guilt free and incredibly delicious.
Creamy Balsamic Dressing
-About a tablespoon of dijon mustard
-A pinch of salt and pepper
-2 tablespoons of cream and/or Half and Half
-A quarter cup of balsamic vinegar
-About 1/3 a cup of your best olive oil
-Use an immersion blender or a whisk to blend until thick and creamy
This is by far my favorite dressing recipe. I constantly crave caprese salad with this concoction drizzled all over. This meal is perfect for a warm, summer night, but I could eat it all year round! This dressing adds the perfect kick to any salad and will be sure to provide you with a fulfilling meal.
Lemon Dijon Dressing
-1 tablespoon of dijon mustard
-2 tablespoons of cream of Half and Half
-Juice of 1 lemon
-A pinch of salt and pepper
-Dried Basil
-1/3 cup of olive oil
-Whisk until blended
I love this dressing because it is so versatile and can be paired with almost anything. I would definitely consider this to be my go-to salad dressing because it is so simple, yet so tasty. I recommend putting this topping on fresh arugula or spinach, paired with salmon or any meat of your choice.
Caesar Salad
-Use the basic lemon dijon dressing as a base
-Add a quarter cup of parmesan cheese
-2 dashes of tabasco
-2 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
Caesar salad has always been one of my favorite foods. In my opinion, you just can’t go wrong with it. However, caesar dressings served in restaurants or bought from the store often contain unhealthy ingredients that are very avoidable and easy to emit. I swear by this recipe because I know that I can trust the ingredients used in it.
These easy and healthy homemade dressings are sure to make your salads way more enjoyable and appetizing. Even better, these dressings can last for about a week and should be stored in a closed container in a fridge. No need to waste empty calories on icky store bought dressings when you have these recipes! Enjoy!
