This Study Will Pay You to Eat Avocados Every Day for 6 Months

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Rangsit chapter.

As someone who is practically addicted to avocado, being given an excuse to eat it every day sounds like my version of heaven. An incredibly versatile superfruit, you can have avocado on toast, in salads, blended into smoothies and even in desserts, but unfortunately they’re also pretty fattening (and expensive!). However, this new avocado study might change all that.

For those of you who may not know, it’s recommended you eat less that half an avocado per day due to the high amount of “healthy fats” which could potentially cause weight gain. While this research has been considered the norm for a while, researchers at Loma Linda University, Penn State, Tufts University, and University of California, Los Angeles are putting in the work to see if that’s actually true.

Everything to know about the study

The study, which is funded by the Hass Avocado Board, will be called “The Habitual Diet and Avocado Trial” and will focus on figuring out if avocados help promote weight loss. Each individual university is looking for 250 applicants and in order to qualify for the study you must be 25 or older and measure at least 35 to 40 inches around the waist, depending on gender. At the end of the study participants will receive $300 each, as well as 24 extra avocados to use as you please (I recommend eating them).

So if you’re interested in helping the world learn about avocados, and don’t mind making a few bucks in the process, head to their website to see how to apply to this avocado study.
