7 Ways To Enjoy Tiramisu

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Portsmouth chapter.

Tiramisu is my favorite Italian dessert. I love the combination of the creamy mascarpone cheese, the fluffy ladyfingers and the deep, rich coffee flavor. I’m not even a huge fan of coffee but I love tiramisu. The best thing about it is how it gets better with time – I usually make mine the night before I’m planning to serve it.

Even though traditional tiramisu is amazing, there are so many other ways to enjoy the flavors and textures of it, plus it means you can get really creative in the kitchen. Here are 7 ways to enjoy tiramisu!

1. Cheesecake

Tiramisu uses mascarpone cheese, so it only makes sense to use cream cheese, right? Gemma Stafford’s recipe for tiramisu cheesecake is really simple and decadent, a must try if you’re a cheesecake lover.

2. Cake Pops

I love cake pops more than actual cake because they’re bite sized, fun and coated in chocolate. These tiramisu cake pops have all the flavors of tiramisu in one portion – although you can still eat 15 and not feel really full. A great recipe for a movie night.

3. Crepe Cake

This cake is made with layers and layers of crepes and whipped cream frosting, and will be a showstopper at any gathering you bring it to. Fid the recipe on Tatyana’s Everyday Food.

4. Ice Cream

I think tiramisu is a great summer dessert, but it’s even better with a classic summer dessert: ice cream. You can find tiramisu ice cream at some ice cream parlors, but it’s actually really simple to make at home with Gemma Staffords 2 ingredient no churn ice cream! All you need is heavy cream and condensed milk, with the addition of ladyfingers, coffee and cocoa powder to dust on top.

5. Swiss Roll

Swiss roll cakes always remind me of my mum, because she usually makes them for christmas. This particular swiss roll is a chocolate cake with a tiramisu filling – making it a great dessert for dinner parties – or for one. I won’t judge. Try this tiramisu swiss roll and impress anyone you’re serving it to.

6. Macarons

These almond cookies make a perfect substitute for ladyfingers, resulting in a crunchier texture but still the same decadent flavors of tiramisu. making macarons can be daunting, but with practice and dedication, these tiramisu macarons will be your new favorite recipe!

7. Brownies

I’ve definitely saved the best for last. Brownies are my all time favorite dessert and this is a brilliant way to dress them up. Plus, this recipe by Jessica Stier is healthy! A sure recommendation for anyone who loves brownies and tiramisu, or baking in general.

I hope this encourages you to eat more tiramisu, and to play around with the traditional recipe. After all, cooking is all about being creative and pushing the boundaries of the originals!
