This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Oregon chapter.

Looking for your new Spring drink? Look no further. This infused white wine recipe is so simple and can transform a $3 bottle of Pinot Grigio into a beverage worthy of a Sex and the City cocktail. Impress your friends with a sensational blend of orange and ginger, or try orange and dried apricots or even lemon-thyme infused wine. The possibilities and elegance are endless.

Ginger-white-wine

Easy

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 1 week
Total Time: 1 week

Servings: 3-4

Ingredients:
1 medium orange peel
2 tablespoons shaved ginger
1 tablespoon sugar
1 bottle white wine (Pinot Grigio for dry or a Riesling for more sweetness)

Directions:
1. Use a vegetable peeler to get the zest of 1 medium orange. If using a regular knife, make sure that the pith (orange part) is scraped clean of the peel as it will make the mixture bitter.

2. With either a peeler or a knife, peel enough ginger to fill 2 tablespoons.

3. Use a mason jar or a cork-able bottle to combine the wine, sugar, orange zest and ginger. Store jar in a cool, dry place for a week or two, making sure to shake the mixture daily. A 1 quart jar will hold a full bottle of wine.
