This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at New Paltz chapter.

Make this Thanksgiving memorable with a tasty Thanksgiving treat made from your favorite cereal, Rice Krispies. Thanksgiving dinner is always a great pastime but the most stressful thing is figuring out something to make. Not everyone is chef status so I am here to provide a recipe I found that uses limited ingredients, is good on time and is a great spin on traditional Rice Krispies treats. So, make some tasty, meatless turkey legs, curtesy of the Hallmark channel.

Instructions

  1. Lay out the wax paper on a flat surface. Choose 6 pretzel rods and break them in half to create more manageable portions. Open the bag of mini marshmallows and use two marshmallows per pretzel rod.

  2. Melt the white candy melts in a deep container according to the package directions. Once the candy is melted, place two mini marshmallows on the end of each pretzel rod using a small amount of candy melt dipped on the end as the u0022glue.u0022 Lay on the waxed paper and let dry.

  3. Dip the end with the mini marshmallows into the candy melt about halfway down the rod. Turn the pretzel rod right side up and tap on the table to smooth out the candy melt. Lay on the waxed paper and let dry. The other half of the pretzel rod will be inside of the Rice Krispies.

  4. In a large microwave safe bowl, combine the butter and mini marshmallows. Microwave for 1 minute and stir. Add the 8 cups of Rice Krispies cereal into the bowl, mix gently with a spoon coated in cooking spray and let cool slightly.

  5. Coat your hands using cooking spray. Using your hands, transform the Rice Krispies into a oval shape, this is your meat. Work quickly for Rice Krispies to retain its shape. Place them on the wax paper and let set about 20 minutes.

  6. Enjoy your fantastic treat!

This Thanksgiving treat is for children, parents, grandparents, cousins, the whole family.
