How to Make a Creamy Avocado Smoothie

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at McGill chapter.

After “the year of the avocado toast,” it’s time to get creative with the uses of this traditionally savory fruit. In my humble opinion, there is no better smoothie ingredient than the avocado. With its subtle taste and velvety texture, it adds a rich creaminess to your smoothie that bananas can only dream of doing.

In addition to their creaminess, avocados also have incredible health benefits, as they are high in potassium, fiber, heart-healthy fatty acids, and anti-oxidants. They are also known to lower blood pressure — making them a great choice for stress relief.  This delicious concoction is ideal for the on-the-go, on-a-budget university student. For bonus hipster points, break out a mason jar to sip in style and watch your envious classmates drool.
