I Tried Montréal’s Version of the Cronut to See If It’s Worth the Hype

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at McGill chapter.

Simplement D Liche, you have simply done it. Forget waiting lists and big lines in New York City, the legendary Cronut has arrived in Montréal. I stumbled upon Simplement D Liche while walking along Saint-Denis with my sister one Sunday morning. As passionate food lovers we obviously had to check out what all this hype was about.

If you have not heard of nor been to Simplement D Liche, you are seriously missing out. The adorable bakery is located on Saint-Denis between Duluth and Roy, and is well known for their beautiful cupcakes and cakes. However, one of their hottest items is the Cronut and it tastes even better than it looks.

Montréal’s Cronut

We tried Nutella and vanilla, which were both heavenly. But I have to say that I am team vanilla, the Nutella was a little too rich for my liking. Just a warning, they are a cross between a donut and croissant, making them very filling. Unless you go on an empty stomach, you may not be able to finish a full one alone, not saying I didn’t though.

I feel so passionate about these little pieces of heaven that I had to let my fellow Montréalers know so they can go out and get one ASAP. Or at least, put it on your must try list. Each Cronut costs $5, a small price to pay for such a delectable treat.

They even deliver, courtesy of Foodora. I don’t know what else to say, they are BOMB. So…What are you waiting for? I know you want one.
