How to Make Vegan Halloween Rice Krispies Treats

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at KU chapter.

Growing up, Rice Krispies treats were one of my favorite desserts, but now that I don’t eat animal products they’re no longer a part of my diet. I recently found out about new vegan marshmallows and decided to experiment—could these fun treats make their way back into my life?

Traditional Rice Krispies treats have both butter and gelatin in the recipe, neither of which are vegan. If you’d like to know more about the gelatin found in marshmallows, PETA has tons of great info on it.

These fun treats can be brought to any party and can fool all of your non-vegan friends. The vegan marshmallows used in this recipe are Dandies marshmallows and can be bought from Amazon or in health food stores. So put on your favorite Halloween movie and start making these bad boys.
