Starbucks New Holiday Cups Are In Stores Today, and They’re Like Adult Coloring Books

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Georgetown chapter.

I know Halloween was like, yesterday, and you definitely haven’t even posted all your the Halloweekend Instas yet, but Starbucks has decided it’s officially the winter holiday season. The Starbucks new Holiday Cup was released today, Nov. 1, at all locations in US and Canada, and I may have freaked out when I got my morning coffee today.

Here is everything you need to know about the new cup that you will most definitely see on everyone’s Snap story.

The Design

The first thing you will notice about the Starbucks new holiday cups are that they are, well, not completely red. You still got those classic holiday vibes, though—handholding, gloves, ribbons, trees, and all that jazz.

The illustrator behind the design, Jordan Kay, said in a press release that she “liked the idea of hands as the centering point, a symbol of connection, love and giving joy.”

The new cup sleeves are red and read, “Give Good.” It’s not only a good reminder around the holiday season, but the sleeves will keep you from burning your hands while drinking some of the returning holiday classics like the Chestnut Praline Latte, Caramel Brulée Latte, and Peppermint Mocha—so, so good.

However, the cups are unmistakably white. There’s a reason for this, though, so don’t fret.

Starbucks knows that you love decorating your cups (I mainly do it in my technology-free lectures, idk about you), and they’re making it even easier this year. These white cups are super easy to color and add your own spin on, while still maintaining the classic Starbucks holiday feel.

Starbucks creative director Leanne Fremar stated in a press release that “this year’s cup is intentionally designed to encourage our customers to add their own color and illustrations,” so basically, color away.

I know that it’s a bit early, but it’s time to get hyped for the holiday season with the Starbucks new holiday cups. Coloring them might serve as a good stress reliever too, which will give you even more to be thankful to Starbucks for.
