I look forward to the weekends, because I love sleeping in late and going to brunch with my friends. We’re lucky because downtown Lancaster has the best and yummiest brunch options to choose from. Thanks to Lanc you can pretty much brunch according to your mood.
1. Aussie and The Fox makes seriously incredible buttermilk pancakes. Imagine a fluffy 1/2 inch thick pancake as big and as perfectly round as a plate. This is what you need prepare yourself for. My BFF and I always get 1 pancake, 2 scrambled eggs, and a side of extra crispy bacon. It makes an epic brunch.
2. On Orange is my favorite place for omelets and toast. They serve really thick yummy slices of multigrain toast from our very own Central Market. Also their oatmeal pancakes/waffles with real maple syrup are delicious. If you have a serious sweet tooth, you can add ice cream on top too. And they always serve petite cookies with your check.
3. Common Wealth on Queen/Common Wealth Kitchen and Café I am obsessed with their homemade waffles and their mocha latte with almond milk. I always crave these waffles, because they are seriously magical. They always have fun brunch specials on the weekends too.
4. Prince Street Café You can get basically any food you are craving and the best coffee here (since Prince Street brews Passenger coffee.) Their fruit smoothies are my favorite; I love adding avocado and spinach to mine! It’s a cozy café, so you can brunch and bring school work to do after.
5. Passenger is the home to delicious coffee, biscuits with butter and jam, a very cool aesthetic, and friendly vibes all around. Passenger is perfect if you are interested in a lighter more European brunch; think quality coffee and unique pastries.
7. The Pressroom has “unreal” Chicken and Biscuits, as noted by an F&M spoon member. I have yet to try this, but my roommate is from Alabama and she is all over chicken and biscuits, so she would be a great judge. And you can never go wrong with a good biscuit… or three.
6. Annie Bailey’s Irish Pub & Restaurant has a fun Bloody Mary Bar that allows you to dress up your bloody mary however you want; maybe with with bacon, hot sauce, olives, celery, etc. Cool stuff.
So, go grab your brunch lovin’ friends, pick a spot, and hop to it.
