Looking for a good night out, but can’t decide what to drink? Let Game of Thrones be you guide. Order what your favorite character would to feel a little closer to Westeros. A word of warning though: this guide is not comprehensive because we’d both be sitting here for hours if I listed every character. So, for the sake of all our sanity, this list only includes living characters.
Jon Snow: Old Fashioned
Jon Snow is just an old fashioned guy. He believes in what’s right and upholds his honor and duty. An Old Fashioned is a little rough, thanks to the whiskey, but a little sweet, just like Jon.
Daenerys Targaryen: Vodka Martini
Daenerys has no time for fluff. She’s a strong women, who’s classy but doesn’t feel the need to get bogged down by sweetness. She drinks it straight and proves that she can out-drink any of the boys.
Samwell Tarly: Stout
Sam is a lot stronger than he looks. He’s super sweet, but he’s often underestimated. Stouts are pretty strong, but there are some that are really sweet, like Southern Tier’s Creme Brulee stout.
Tyrion Lannister: Syrah Wine
Tyrion believes in the finer things in life. He doesn’t believe in forgoing life’s pleasures, so it makes sense that he would want a rich, hearty, and spicy wine that goes best with steaks and wild game.
Jaime Lannister: Manhattan
Jaime’s been through a lot and he’s still strong, despite it all. He does, however, have a deeper sweetness than he showed in the first few seasons. He needs a strong drink of whiskey, with the sweetness of vermouth.
Arya Stark: Single Malt Whiskey
Arya doesn’t have time to sit around and nurse a glass of wine. Give her a glass of whiskey instead. She’d relish the burn and feel revived afterwards.
Sansa Stark: Long Island Iced Tea
Some may say that Long Island Iced Tea is a girly drink and Sansa does look pretty girly. But the truth is Long Island Iced Teas are really strong, just like Sansa. She may still look a lot like the girl that looked for her prince, but she can take down anyone.
Bran Stark: Three Wise Men
Bran has a power that lets him see things others can only dream of seeing. He’s far wiser than his years, so it makes sense that he’d drink something that would reflect it. The Three Wise Men in this drink are Scotch Whiskey, Tennessee Whiskey, and Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey.
Margaery Tyrell: Merlot
Margaery is sleek and adaptable. Merlot is a type of wine that pretty much goes with anything, just like how she changes to suit her needs to get the throne.
Ramsey Bolton: Death in the Afternoon
I feel like the name says it all. Ramsey’s all for a good Death in the Afternoon. He embodies it. The drink looks pretty harmless, just a flute of champagne. However, it’s actually a mix of champagne and absinthe. Just like Ramsey, this drink may look sweet, but it’s actually pretty deadly.
Cersei Lannister: Cabernet Sauvignon
Cersei is a wine drinker, because it looks classy and she does try to keep up appearances, as the king’s mother. But she wouldn’t be caught ever drinking a fruity wine. She prefers something drier, something more full-bodied.
Petyr Baelish: Cognac
Littlefinger definitely sits around with a glass of Cognac, while he masterminds his plans. Cognac is smooth and appears classy. Littlefinger is all about keeping up appearances.
Melisandre: Mulled Wine
The Red Woman would be all about a drink made of red wine and mulling spices. It’s served hot or warm, like it was heated by the Lord of Light.
Varys: Moscato
Varys is pretty much the only character that’s actually looking out for the sake of Westeros. He doesn’t always seem good, but he is ultimately, mostly good. He’d drink something light and sweet.
Brienne of Tarth: Gin and Tonic
Brienne is strong and powerful. That goes without saying. But she is feminine, although a lot of people take that side of her for granted. Gin can be a bit strong, but it’s made sweeter by the tonic.
Podrick Payne: Sex on the Beach
Because..well…Pod has some serious skills.
Daario Naharis: Jack and Coke
Daario is kind of a man’s man, but in the best way. He does like the fight, but he’s as much a lover as he is a fighter. He’d love the burn of a little whiskey, but he’d love it as much as the sweetness of the Coke.
