As a college student, I’m always looking for new ways to make quick but tasty snacks. I’m also always craving something sweet. Unfortunately, it’s hard to make Paula Deen-worthy desserts when a microwave is the only thing you have at your disposal. This is where that ballin’ on a budget college ingenuity comes into play and you have to get crafty.
Through many tears, burnt marshmallows and apples, and small explosions, I have perfected four, easy breezy microwavable desserts that will satisfy your sweet tooth with minimal effort.
Microwave S’mores
Ingredients
Instructions
Place one half of the graham cracker on a microwavable plate with the marshmallow on top and microwave for one minute. Add the chocolate and the other half of the graham cracker on top of the marshmallow and squish them together. Microwave for another 20 seconds and enjoy!
“Baked” Cinnamon Apples
Ingredients
Instructions
Chop up the apple into a microwavable bowl.
Add the water and sprinkle the brown sugar over the apple slices.
Microwave for 1 1/2 minutes, let them cool for a few minutes, then sprinkle with cinnamon and pair them with vanilla ice cream.
Chocolate Fondue
Ingredients
Instructions
Combine the chocolate chips and milk in a microwavable bowl and microwave for 1 minute. Stir until it is smooth and even and then dip in!
Chocolate Peanut Butter Mug Cake
Ingredients
Instructions
Mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and sugar in a bowl.
Add in the melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract and whisk until smooth. Then fold in the chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into a microwavable mug and plop a dollop of peanut butter in the middle, and press it down until it has been submerged in the batter.
Microwave for 1 minute and then let it cool for another minute. If you really want to take it to the next level, add some vanilla ice cream.
