How to Make My Family’s Secret Homemade Pimento Dip

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Drake chapter.

I grew up with this dip and it was delicious. It came from my Dad’s great grandma, and it’s been passed down to me. It’s funny because pimento dip seems so normal to me, but to everyone else, they’re all like: “Well, what’s a pimento?” Seriously.

Trying to find them in Walmart was almost impossible, but I found them in the canned vegetable isle (I thought they’d be next to the olives). Next time you need to make a dip for a special occasion, keep my family’s recipe in mind.

Mix together the ingredients in the bowl until they are combined.

#SpoonTip: your dip doesn’t have to be perfectly smooth, but if you’re having trouble stirring microwave the ingredients for 30 seconds.

Cover your bowl and place it in the fridge to chill for 30 minutes or so.

#SpoonTip: the longer it sits in the fridge, the stronger the taste becomes.

Serve with your choice of dippers. I chose broccoli and Ritz Toasted Chips.
