These Colored Chocolate Eggs Will Brighten Up Your Easter

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Drake chapter.

In my family, it’s a tradition to spend Easter weekend dyeing and decorating Easter eggs. The only thing that could make this tradition better? Chocolate. These hollow, colored chocolate eggs are perfect for decorating and eating. Try filling them with more chocolate, caramel or peanut butter, or break them in half and fill them with candies.

Divide the melted chocolate into 5 small bowls.

Put 1 drop of green, blue and red food coloring in 3 separate bowls. Then, put one drop each of red and blue in one of the bowls, and two drops of yellow in the last bowl.

Spray the molds with baking spray. Pour the chocolate into egg molds. You can use chocolate molds, but I used Jell-O molds because it was what I had in my kitchen. If you wanted to fill the eggs, now would be the time to do that.

#spoontip: Using a pastry bag with a small hole in the bag is much less messy than pouring by hand.

Once the molds are filled, put in the fridge for 10 minutes. Then, carefully take the chocolate out of the molds.
