Whether you’re a cake or pie person, you can appreciate the fact that baking a delicious cake or pie requires some time-commitment. So what to do if you’re under a serious time-crunch but are craving some dessert? Make some hand pies of course!
Not only are these the most adorable and scrumptious looking things, but they are incredibly easy to make and take only 30 minutes out of your busy life. Plus, the only ingredients you need are probably already in your kitchen if you’re the dessert-lover you claim to be: chocolate, Oreos, and pie crust.
What I also always prefer when it comes to dessert recipes is flexibility. Maybe I’m not feeling half milk half cookies ‘n’ cream chocolate, instead I want only dark chocolate — no problem. Or I want both Chips Ahoys and Oreos — stack away. Better yet, I’ve got some mini marshmallows lying around — toss ’em in!
This hand pie recipe can adapt to any combination of preferences, so pull out that leftover chocolate and snag those cookies before your roommate gets them, and start baking!
Cookies ‘n Cream Hand Pies
Ingredients
Instructions
Preheat oven to 325ºF.
Roll out pie crust on floured surface.
Cut out 4 circles in crust using a small bowl.
Place 1 square of milk chocolate and 1 square of cookies and cream chocolate on each pie crust.
Split open Oreo and place one half on top of each set of chocolates, filling-side down.
Wet the edges of crust with water and with your extra pie crust, place a small piece over part of your filling.
Fold the dough over the filling so it’s completely covered and tightly packaged; crimp the edges with a fork.
Cover each pie with beaten egg whites.
Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
While baking, melt your remaining chocolate and prepare an icing bag.
While baking, place 3-5 Oreos into a ziplock bag and smash with a rolling pin until all Oreos are crushed.
Once done baking, drizzle both melted chocolates over pies, and sprinkle Oreos crumbs on top.
Pick up one of those tasty treats and enjoy!
#SpoonTip: Add whipped cream to maximize deliciousness.
