Growing up on the East Coast, grabbing a Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and muffin before school was a daily occurrence. Over the years, my list of favorites has grown very near to my heart. The hash browns, a good ol’ strawberry frosted donut, a large iced coffee, an everything bagel…. These things are the key to my happiness. But some of DD’s items have slipped through the cracks and been long forgotten. Here’s your friendly reminder of what used to be.
The Chicken Parm Flatbread
Remember this? This flatbread was hit with some mixed reviews. Most people considered it a failed effort by Dunkin’ to break into the lunch market, and were less than pleased with its original cost of $3.99. Still, the unique flatbread managed to stick around for a while before being discontinued and virtually forgotten (perhaps for the better?).
The Oreo Coolatta
Gotta admit, my inner sugar addict misses this one. Dunks discontinued their Oreo Coolatta much to the dismay of many of their customers. Coolattas are typically cycled in and out with a few staples. The Oreo Coolatta was widely loved, but quickly forgotten as new flavors came out. Perhaps one day DD will bring this beauty back…
Cinnamon Spice Ground Coffee
With the amount of fall-inspired coffee out there, it makes sense that the Cinnamon Spice coffee was outlived by the classic Pumpkin Spice. Still, the Cinnamon Spice was actually quite popular, and found in stores across the country. For DD Lovers who wanted to keep brewing at home, this was a fun and festive option.
The Tailgater Breakfast Sandwich
This breakfast sandwich hit the menu just in time for an upcoming football season, but did not fly off the shelves like DD had hoped. It was a short-lived sandwich, and one that customers were not a fan of.
The Original DD Cruller
Dunkin’ Donut’s still has a cruller on their menu, which is probably why most people don’t remember their original cruller. This donut, one of four original donuts, was immensely popular, but it had to be handmade. As the company grew, handmade efforts were traded in for high-tech, donut-producing machines. The original recipe, and donut have been long forgotten, sadly.
These items may have been forgotten by the general public, but will live on in history as some of the best and the worst products by our beloved Dunkin Donut’s. Check out other sweet donuts, here.
