4 Movie-Inspired Snacks for Your Oscars Watch Party in the Dorms

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Cal Poly chapter.

Whether you’re streaming one of the nominated titles or watching the ceremony itself, these Best Picture-inspired Oscars watch party snacks are not only guaranteed to be crowd pleasers, but they’re also totally dorm-friendly. No measuring spoons or special tools required, and any recipe can be easily adapted to make more (or fewer!) servings. And, unlike Oscars presenters, they’re foolproof.

Bohemian Raspberry Nutella Truffles

Difficulty:BeginnerPrep time:1 hour Cook time: 1 minuteTotal time:1 hour 1 minuteServings:12 servings

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Put Oreos in a Ziplock bag (and maybe use another Ziplock bag in case other one breaks!) and crush them as finely as possible. Some larger chunks are fine! They’ll give the truffles more texture.

  2. In a bowl, mix cream cheese and Nutella together until fully incorporated.

  3. Add a few spoonfuls of Oreo crumbs at a time to the Nutella-cream cheese mixture, while stirring in. The final mixture will be fairly thick, but if it is too soft to handle, put in the fridge for 15-20 minutes.

  4. Take a scoop of the mixture and press a frozen raspberry inside it, carefully forming a small ball around it. Repeat until you run out of the mixture.

  5. Put truffles in the freezer for 15-20 minutes to harden.

  6. Heat up chocolate in the microwave for 1 minute, pausing at the 30 second mark to stir and then resume.

  7. Take truffles out of the fridge and dip them in chocolate one by one. Use a fork to coat each truffle evenly.

  8. Put finished truffles back in the fridge for 15-20 minutes to harden before serving.
