Do you love indulging in different cultures? Held annually at the Hotel @ The Lafayette, Buffalo Without Borders honors Buffalo’s community steeped in ethnic and cultural traditions and diversity. Several performances along with cultural food from various restaurants are available to be sampled.
Hosted by the International Institute of Buffalo, this organization tries to make New York a better place for refugees and immigrants.
IIB offers resettlement for refugees and employment programs. It also provides services to survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, translation and interpretation services, global education programs for students, teachers, service providers, and businesses, and two international visitors’ leadership programs
Performers
Naryan Padmanadbha – a multi-instrumentalist from Western New York. His style can be described as: sitar with world groove loops
Ringo Brill – Afro-Latin drumming, and currently plays in the groups Afrobeat Orchestra, One World Tribe, Diaspora Drumming, La Marimba and The 12/8 Band.
Dance with Live Drumming from Shakti Yoga – Kate Stapleton Paryzch, Kristen Polmanteer, and Jeannie Lynch are student dancers who performed a traditional West African welcome dance accompanied by Tiffany Nicely, the percussionist.
Gaitrie Devi – Bollywood styled dance. As founder of Devi Bollywood Dance of Buffalo, she works closely with the community. She studies and trains in Bharatanatyam while taking and exploring all avenues of dance forms.
