7 Epic Thanksgiving Television Scenes

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Bucknell chapter.

The holiday season is fast approaching, Thanksgiving is this Thursday and the holidays are just around the corner. While there are so many Christmas TV specials to look forward to, I’d argue that Thanksgiving TV specials often get overlooked. It’s a shame, because they’re really great. These Thanksgiving TV food moments will surely get you in the Thanksgiving spirit. Remember these?

1. “Gossip Girl” — “Blair Waldorf Must Pie”

Dan invites Serena and her family to Thanksgiving, but it’s kinda awkward because Dan’s mom is back, and no one knows about Rufus and Lily’s romantic past. It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without a little awkwardness at dinner though, right?

2. “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving”

Arguably, this is the most quintessential Thanksgiving TV food moment on the list. For me, personally, I’ve been watching this episode every year for the last 20 years. The whole peanut gang create their own Friendsgiving feast with all of the, um, essentials: popcorn, toast, an ice cream sundae, and jelly beans.

3. “Friends” — “The One With All the Thanksgivings”

In this episode, Monica sticks her head into a raw turkey, decked out with big, yellow sunglasses, just to cheer up Chandler. Talk about a great friend, amirite?

4. “Will and Grace” — “Homo for the Holidays”

Thanksgiving can be a really great time to open up and share things with your family. In this episode, Will and Grace are shocked when they learn that Jack has never shared with his family that he’s gay. They encourage him to do it over Thanksgiving dinner.

5. “The Simpsons” — “Bart vs. Thanksgiving”

Whether you love cranberry sauce or you absolutely cannot stand it, Bart Simpson is all of us. In this episode, Bart is struggling to cook the controversial Thanksgiving side dish. While it may not take a lot of work to make cranberry sauce, Bart surely puts in a lot of work–making this an iconic Thanksgiving TV food moment.

6. “Full House” — “The Miracle of Thanksgiving”

This episode is the first Thanksgiving without the Tanners’ mother, Pam. Uncle Jesse, Joey, and Danny band together to give the girls the best Thanksgiving ever–even if that includes a smashed pumpkin pie.

7. “Gilmore Girls” — “A Deep Fried Korean Thanksgiving”

No matter how you insist on cooking your Thanksgiving turkey, it has the potential to cause some unrest among your Thanksgiving crowd (especially when they’re hungry). In this episode, Jackson deep-fries his turkey for the Stars Hallow gang and some of them get a little hangry while waiting for it.
